How to control who sees what in your multiple social media accounts

The primary purpose of social media accounts is to help us connect with people all around the world. With the emergence of multiple social media platforms, it has become easy for us to know every detail about someone living miles apart. Numerous social media platforms offer multiple features.

All these features have multiple purposes. Some of them are business promotional purposes while some other features are for sheer entertainment/information. Such a plethora of features makes us vulnerable to scammers and hackers existing online.

With the growing number of cybercrimes, it is imperative to put a stop to it by implementing more security features. The different social media platforms (primarily Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn) are updated periodically to increase the safety features.

They are doing their part to protect their users. From our end, did you know that we too can take charge of who sees what in our social media accounts? Here is what you can do to control what will be visible in your social media account.

How can you control who sees what in social media platforms?

Choose the audience:

The first thing is to set your audience. Facebook offers the best options to set who can see your posts or your account. When you are going to post something, you will see a dropdown that enables you to choose who can see the post.

You can set certain parameters for certain posts. You can make it public, you can select “friends only”, and you can choose “only me”. The most customizable option is “friends except”. Here you can select a specific person or a few more people in your friends-list who cannot see a post.

Source

Public or Private:

Instagram and Twitter don’t come with customized features like Facebook. For any post you do, either that can be a public post or it can be a private post. Thus, it is important to be sure about something before posting something publicly.

Source

You will have the option to change the accounts back and forth to public and private if needed. Twitter has a feature to protect your Tweets. Go to the settings and then visit “privacy and safety” and enable “protect your tweets”. Visit Instagram settings and select “Privacy and security” and then click on “private account”.

Hide your stories:

Instagram stories are one of the most used features on this platform. You have the option to hide your stories from certain people while keeping the main photo feed public. Also, you can post stories to a selected group of people or close friends instead of all displaying to all your followers.

Source

Visit settings, click on “privacy” and then “story” and select who you don’t want to see your story. You can also configure a list of close friends who can see your story every time you post something.

Protecting the posts

Social media platforms are updated in such a way that when you post something, you have the option to protect it as well. Twitter allows you to hide replies. Click on the arrow next to the tweet and select “hide reply”. The person will not know it’s hidden.

On Instagram, you can turn off commenting for a post or a story. Visit settings and click on “comments” or “story”. You have the option to only allow people you are following to leave a comment. Also, you can mute offensive comments or turn on the “manual filter” to ensure that specific words don’t appear.

Source

You can delete existing comments by long-pressing them (for Android0 or by swiping left (for iOS). On Facebook, click on the three dots (from PC) or long-press the comment (in the app) to delete or hide it. The author will not be notified, but if they revisit, they will see their comments have been deleted.

Blocking the trouble creators

This is a very common safety feature that has been there in all the social media platforms for quite a long time. You can block anyone that causes trouble in your social media platforms. On Twitter and Facebook, you can open up a profile, click the three dots, and then choose “block”.

Instagram will still give you an additional feature, known as “restrict”. It is not a full block. When the person comments on your post, the comments will have to be approved before they become public. Also, they cannot see you online.

Source

Mute users

If you want to hide someone from the feeds, but you don’t want to block them, then you can mute them instead. They will not know that they have been muted. The posts and comments will not appear to you.

In Twitter, you can visit the profile, tap the three dots, you will see the menu option. From there you can choose to mute. On Instagram, open a profile, click on “following” and then click on “Mute”. The same can be done on Facebook. Open the profile, tap on “friends” and click on “unfollow”.

Know this, while commenting on any post, anyone will be able to see your comments whether they are in your friend list or not.

Prevent people from tagging you

Everyone is not comfortable to get tagged in posts and comments. If you are one of them then you can limit the tagging too. For Facebook, go to settings, visit the Timeline, and tagging. Here you can review the posts that you are tagged before they get appeared to your timeline.

You can limit the wider audience even if you cannot stop them completely from tagging.

On Instagram, go to settings, choose “tags” and select “manually approve tags”. On Twitter, you cannot stop the mentions, but you can stop the tags in photos. Click on settings, go to “privacy and safety” and then click on “photo tagging”.

Source

A few more safety features include, not sharing your live location with every single post. It might be great to show off, but not so great to ensure privacy. Do not share personal information like card details or PIN numbers of any other passwords.

Also, avoid using the same passwords on different social media platforms. Make sure you check the box to “never” when Google asks to “save password” for future use.

Transparency and genuineness are something that you will find in a marketing agency for startups and a professional online marketing agency. Right from the budget allocation to the clear terms and conditions, there is nothing that stays in the shadows. They don’t flatter their clients with mesmerizing strategies and come up with hidden charges later on.

A good online marketing company in India has good communication skills and the same can be said about a startup. When you get in touch with such a company, they attend all your queries with precision so that things are clear to you.

Also, they keep you in the loop with every campaign so that you are updated with every detail. If any marketing agency leaves you hanging, then it is time to look elsewhere. Before you finalize a deal, get in touch with them in person to read the terms of service.

Another important aspect of choosing the right paid search marketing agency is to visit their website and company. It is imperative to check their website whether it is SEO-friendly or not, whether they have followers or not.

A professional digital marketing agency India should be able to promote own organization. If they don’t have a strong online presence for their website, chances are they will not be able to promote your business. 5 Tricks to Optimize Email Marketing Campaign Amidst the COVID19 Pandemic

The COVID19 pandemic has created a stir all over the globe. There have been drastic changes in the implementation of paid search marketing campaigns and strategies by different business organizations. The email marketing campaign is one of the most important tools for generating revenue.

If you are planning to maximize the revenue from email marketing, there are a few tricks you need to know. Before we get into the steps to optimize the paid search marketing campaigns, let us share some of the basic details.

What is email marketing?

Email marketing is one of the most effective tools used in digital marketing. In this process, you send out emails to prospects and customers. With effective strategies, prospective customers convert into customers and loyal fans. It is extremely useful for developing relationships with customers.

Be careful while working on the social media marketing campaigns because using too many emails feels like “spam”. It drives the customer away. Most of the emails we receive today proclaiming superb “deals” are nothing but a farce to get attention from people.

While creating strategies on such campaigns, make sure that the customer gets informed about the offers/services/products without making you look desperate.

Why should you choose email marketing?

The primary reason email marketing is still the most preferred option for a promotional purpose is that email is still the #1 communication channel. 99% of the customers daily check the emails. This is not applicable to any other communication channel.

Another important advantage of choosing an email as a paid search marketing medium is you own your list. In simple terms, any social media platform can delete or suspend your account without any notice. All your posts and fans/followers get deleted from your account. This doesn’t happen with email marketing. No one can take the leads away.

People, who buy products marketed from email, spend 138% more than those who don’t get email offers. Did you know that email marketing offers an ROI of 4400%?

That is exceptional! If you are still thinking whether social media gets you more business than emails, know this “the average order value through email is three times higher than social media”.

How to optimize email marketing campaigns to generate the best ROI?

Like we said, email marketing is extremely useful in digital marketing if it can be done properly. Here are the 5 tricks that will help you generate the optimal ROI, especially during the COVID19 pandemic.

1) Sending behavioural emails

So what is meant by “behavioural emails”? The general emails are known as “business as usual” emails or BAU emails. Behavioural emails are tailored according to customer preferences and behaviour.

The behavioural emails generate 76.7% more open and 151.9% more clicks than the usual emails. There are three types of behavioural emails. They are:

a) Welcome emails: It is important to send a welcome email to send every customer. Sending welcome emails generates 320% more revenue per email than any other usual email.

b) Browse abandon: Considering the e-commerce web-sessions 44.3% results in the product views while 14.5% gets added to cart. The browse abandon emails increase the chances of bringing visitors back. These emails retarget the shoppers who have left the site before adding any products in their carts.

c) Cart/Checkout abandon emails: It is a follow-up email for someone who has visited the site, added products in the cart, and went someway through checkout but didn’t complete the purchase. Cart abandonment emails will generate $5.81 in revenue for every email on an average.

2) Categorize the subscribers

Did you know that segmented email marketing campaigns will generate 100.95% more clicks than any non-categorized email campaign? There are three ways to categorize subscribers.

  • Categorize them according to the website behaviour (for instance the product categories they viewed)
  • Categorize them on the quiz or form submissions
  • Categorize them on responses to the emails (for instance the link clicks)

3) Focus on those who are not-subscribing/unsubscribes

The average unsubscribes rate remains around 0.09 to 0.4%. There could be two possible reasons why the subscribers are leaving. At this rate, you will be losing 18% of the subscribers after a year of weekly email marketing.

a) They are receiving too many emails.

b) The emails are not relevant to them.

The solution here is to use email preference centers to allow subscribers to customize the subscription according to their preferences. Show them other lists that they might like. Also, you can offer them the option to pause the email frequency or choose a certain email frequency.

4) Create a personalized sign-up form to capture more emails

Did you know that 80% of the website visitors are highly likely to buy from customized websites? Why? Customize websites offer them a sense of belonging. There are two ways to create customized websites.

a) Make sure to use dynamic content within the forms. Display the custom images according to the page content, URLs, or the ESP data.

b) Categorize the opt-in offers by choosing the visitor type (for instance, the first-timers, existing visitors, and more).

5) A few additional tactics (simple yet effective)

  • Opt for the emojis/emoticons in the subject lines. Considering the lingo of the present generation, these emoticons work well to connect with them.
  • Instead of adding a simple text link, you can add a button. The buttons come with colors and they have a better impact on the visitors instead of plain texts.
  • If possible, use the subscriber’s name in the subject line. This shows that you made an effort to create a tailored email for a customer instead of sending auto-generated emails.
  • Try to include short and to-the-point subject lines. They are easy to read on smaller devices like smartphones and tabs. Also, long subject lines seem pretty boring, instead, try catchy subject lines.
  • Opt for the plain text emails. According to studies, the plain text emails work better than the HTML emails.

If you are looking for ways to efficiently handle your business during the COVID19 crisis, then these are some of the email marketing campaign tricks to follow. Have you tried any one of them? Try these tips and let Skyram Technologies know how it works here.

Amazon Affiliate Program – A consolidated beginner’s guide for everyone

It is not a secret that Amazon is one of the most significant e-commerce platforms all over the globe. In the USA alone, it is responsible for more than 40% of online sales. With the Amazon Affiliate program, also known as Amazon Associates, anyone can earn money and enjoy a share of the retail giant’s profit.

The affiliate marketing program allows users to monetize websites, digital marketing, social media, and blogs. How? The Amazon affiliate users place links to the products of Amazon on their site. If a customer makes a purchase through one of their links, the user will receive a commission.

What is affiliate marketing?

Simply put, Affiliate marketing is an arrangement. Here an online merchant (like Amazon) pays a commission to the affiliate websites for sending traffic or sales. Affiliate sites link the merchant site and they get paid according to the terms and conditions.

There are three types of affiliate marketing.

The first one is Pay-Per-Sale. Here the merchants will pay the affiliate websites only when the affiliates will send customers who purchase. There are some merchants like Amazon, who pay a fixed rate of commission for every sale.

The next one is called Pay-Per-Click (PPC). In PPC, the affiliate website will be paid on the number of visitors on a merchant’s website through the affiliate link. The affiliates get paid on the number of traffic, regardless of the purchase.

The third one is called Pay-Per-Lead. In this program, the affiliates get paid according to the number of visitors who sign up as leads. Also, if the visitors fill out the requested information on the website, then too, the affiliates get paid.

How does Amazon Affiliate program work?

Amazon Associates get paid according to the number of users visiting Amazon from the affiliate website. Also, the affiliates get a percentage of commission if the visitors from that affiliate website make a purchase from Amazon.

Your commission will vary according to the type of product a visitor purchases. Also, it will be based on the conversion rate. The conversion rate is the percentage of the total number of visitors purchasing through your website among the total number of visitors to your website.

For instance, if you get 5000 visitors in a month and 10 among them make a purchase, then the conversion rate is 0.2%. The average conversion rate is 0.5% to 1%. To earn from this affiliate program, a customer needs to purchase something within 24 hours of visiting Amazon from your site.

Once the 24-hour window is closed, you will not get any commission from the purchase. If the customer visits Amazon through your affiliate link and then adds a product in their shopping cart. Then too you can earn a commission even if they don’t complete their order.

As long as the product was added to the cart in the 24-hour window, you shall get a referral fee. This is only applicable if the visitor buys it before the shopping cart expires (which is 90 days).

How do you get into the Amazon Affiliate program?

To become an Amazon Associate, you have to visit affiliate-program.amazon.com and click on “Join Now for Free”. Then you have to enter the account information (name, address, and registered mobile number). The next step is to enter the website URLs and mobile app URLs to display banners, ads, and affiliate links.

You can add 50 websites and mobile applications combined. Create a store ID and then offer information about your websites or mobile apps. Also mention what kind of products you want to promote and more.

You choose any topic from a drop-down menu like apparel, games, books, or movies that match your website niche. Then you will choose how you drive traffic to your website, how you generate your earnings from your apps and website. Also, mention how you build links and how many unique visitors you get every month.

When this section is done, enter your phone number and click on “call me now”. Answer the call. You shall be provided with a 4-digit pin and then your account will be set. Here you can choose whether you want to enter the payment and tax details.

You can choose to do it later and proceed to create affiliate links.

How to create Amazon affiliate links?

Once the account is created you shall be redirected to the Amazon Associate dashboard. Here you can check the analytics and create affiliate links. Use Amazon’s product link tool for creating affiliate links. For accessing it, just click on “product linking” at the top of the dashboard and then choose “product links”.

When you click on that, you will see a screen where you can search for a product. Either you can search for something generic (for instance, yoga mat) or you can search with the name of a brand. Let us say you are creating an affiliate link for a review of tennis shoes.

Then you can search for “tennis shoes” or search more specifically for a particular product with a brand. When you have entered the query, the search results will appear. Choose the product that you want to create a link. To get the link, click on “get link”.

A pop-up box comes up with the affiliate link. Copy the HTML code for the site or you can customize it. Your ad can be an image, a text, or a combination of an image and text. You can also customize the look of the ad like changing the title or price color to match your website design.

How to get paid from the Amazon Affiliate program?

The earnings from the affiliate program will be paid approximately 60 days after every month. You can opt for a direct deposit, by check or through Amazon gift card. The payment option plays an important role because Amazon limits a minimum payment amount for every option.

For a direct deposit to your bank account, you need to provide the banking details once you reach the minimum amount of $10.

For payment through check, you have to supply Amazon with the mailing address only.

For gift cards, Amazon will send gift cards to the email address on your account for the amount you earned.

If you already own a website with suitable content to add affiliate links, you can start earning now.

Whether you are looking for optimal benefits from Amazon Affiliate program from your existing website or want to develop a niche site for the affiliate programs, the professionals at Skyram technologies are here to help.

WhatsApp Pay will be rolling out live by the end of May

WhatsApp Pay was on the beta testing phase for the last two years. The parent company, Facebook, was struggling to launch the payment gateway in India. Finally, the Facebook-owned messaging platform will launch its payment option.

WhatsApp payment gateway will be launched in collaboration with three renowned private banks in India. The final reports suggest that it will be available for Indian people by the end of May.

What are the banks in collaboration with WhatsApp?

At present, the organization has collaborated with the top three banks of India. These are ICICI bank, HDFC, and Axis bank. There are talks to include the State Bank of India too. However, it will not be included now. The State Bank of India will be included later on.

All four banks were a part of the beta testing phase and integration process.

According to the statement by a WhatsApp spokesperson, “We are continuing to work with the government so that we can provide access to payments on WhatsApp to all of our users. Payments on WhatsApp will help accelerate digital payments and this is particularly important during Covid19 as it is a safer way to transact for our 400 million users in India.

Presently, both SBI and WhatsApp are working closely for integration testing. There are some outstanding insights into the CERT-In Audit report presented by WhatsApp. Thus, they have asked for time till May 31st, 2020.

What caused the delay of two years?

WhatsApp received the clearance from the National Payments Corporation of India quite a long time ago (two years to be specific). However, there was a delay in granting approval by NPCI. The delay was mainly due to the company facing numerous legal and regulatory issues.

Also, the issue of data localization guidelines presented by the Reserve Bank of India in 2018 resulted in the delay. WhatsApp e-commerce payment gateway services were available for the users of India since February 2018. The services were available for selected users.

Now, the services will become available to all the users of WhatsApp. To activate the service, you have to initiate a payment for generating a UPI code. As a part of the beta testing, initially, 1 million users of India had access to the WhatsApp Pay feature.

The government and RBI were reluctant on the approval because of the vulnerabilities discovered on WhatsApp. An NGO Center for Accountability and Systemic Change filed a petition to the Supreme Court of India. The petition claimed that WhatsApp doesn’t comply with the data localization norms set by the RBI.

According to the petition, “one million Indians cannot be reduced to guinea pigs. Their sensitive personal data, including financial data, cannot be stored outside India in contravention to the RBI circular.” Due to this petition causing security issues related to WhatsApp, the initial plan of launching the payment gateway was held up.

A multibank model for seamless e-commerce transactions

For a major digital platform like WhatsApp to offer a UPI-based service, it needs to opt for a multi-bank model. This is a mandatory notice issued by the NPCI recently.

The multi-bank model will avoid any sort of delay in transactions in case any bank faces issues in transactions. Also, a single bank’s server will not be under excessive pressure. The disadvantages of choosing a single-bank model were seen when Yes Bank stopped the transactions from different platforms like Swiggy and PhonePe.

Google Pay and PhonePe

Google Pay and Truecaller are the two major platforms that allow multi-bank transactions at present. Google Pay already has HDFC, Axis Bank, SBI, and ICICI for enabling the UPI based transactions. WhatsApp Pay is going to enter into a head-on competition against Google Pay, Amazon Pay UPI, PayTm, and PhonePe.

Why India as a target market?

The primary reason to choose to launch the payment gateway in India is that WhatsApp has 400 million users in India. Among the 2 billion users worldwide, the major user base is in India. With such a significant number of users, India is the largest target market for the app.

For this particular reason, the WhatsApp payment gateway is speculated to be a hit among the users. Also, because of such a huge number of users, it can give a tough competition to the existing UPI payment gateways.

Facebook has plans to launch WhatsApp payment services in other countries as well. CEO Mark Zuckerberg mentioned that the company is looking forward to rolling out the payment gateway service in multiple countries. This is going to happen in the next six months.

Last month, Facebook entered into a collaboration with Reliance enabling e-commerce operations through WhatsApp, known as JioMart. Now, JioMart is going to make things easier for the WhatsApp payment gateway.

JioMart is going to widen the use of WhatsApp Pay. The small business owners, e-commerce, and other consumers using JioMart will prefer WhatsApp payment services to make a payment.

Google announcements – Launching the mobile-first indexing for the whole web

For the last few years, Google is working on making the mobile-first indexing as the default behavior of the search engine. The initiative was first announced in 2016. Once again, this year, it announced that by September 2020, mobile-first indexing will become the default behavior of all sites.

After running a few tests, the company went all-in last year. By the end of last year, more than half of the web pages had been optimized to “mobile-first” with responsive web design. At present, the number has crossed 70%. Google said most of the websites are now ready for the new system.

The traditional Googlebot will crawl the desktop websites occasionally. This means the website owners might notice a spike in crawling by Google in the upcoming months. The company will be using two types of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) crawlers.

One of the crawlers will be used for the mobile smartphone users and the other one will look like the Chromium version used for the desktop site. For most of the websites, the shift should be seamless. If you are revealing only structured data on desktop only, it is time to turn it on for mobile too.

What is mobile-first indexing?

It simply means Google will use the mobile version of the content for ranking and indexing. Initially, Google index used the desktop version of a page to evaluate the relevance of a page with a query.

Since most of the users at present use mobile devices, Googlebot will crawl and index the pages with the smartphone agent. On 5th March 2020, Google confirmed on a post (Webmaster’s Blog), that from now on, the indexing will be mobile-first.

In simple terms, only one Googlebot (a mobile crawler) will be used for all types of pages.

Why is it important for you?

The algorithm is going to bring major changes in digital marketing and in ways the pages get ranked and searched. Note that, mobile usability and mobile indexing are separate things. You need to focus on both of them and opt for a responsive web design. The websites launched after 1st July 2019, are already mobile-first indexed.

For the rest of the websites, it will depend on Google whether it has indexed the mobile version of the desktop version. Earlier, only one of the versions was indexed and then shown to both the users (mobile and desktop).

Now, only the mobile version of a website is going to be indexed and shown. You cannot opt-out from here. If your website is not mobile-friendly, the users are going to see the messed up version, even when they are on desktop.

Thus, whether you cater to desktop users or mobile users, or both, you must have a mobile-friendly website.

How to reap the optimal benefits?

One thing you can rest assured that the Google search algorithm and indexing updates are the best SEO. Google is looking to offer the best services for the users. To reap the benefits of it, you need to do a few things.

1. Make sure that your website has a responsive web design. Your website should deliver the same experience for all the users on different devices.

  • Keep the same content for both the desktop and mobile versions.
  • Keep the same URLs. You don’t need to create separate URLs for desktop and mobile.
  • Make sure that the Meta tags and headings are the same for both the versions.
  • It is not necessary to create too much JavaScript because it creates roadblocks for crawling.
  • The structured data needs to be the same.
  • Let the Googlebot see and render the lazy-loaded content.
  • Place the ads strategically so that it doesn’t block the mobile bots
  • Use the high-quality images that will look in both the versions
  • The URL of the image or video should not change when a page is loaded.
  • The page statuses, like, “header status, success status, error page status, page not found status, etc. should be the same in both versions.
  • The mobile site must be capable of handling an increased crawl rate.

2. Test the website for mobile-friendliness. Numerous tools can help you check the SEO and user-friendliness of your website. Also, you can do the speed test and use the search console tools from Google. Ensure the site load time is as less as possible for both the mobile and desktop versions.

3. In the search console, add both the mobile and desktop versions. It is better not to keep two different versions. A single responsive website that caters to all the device users is a much better option.

If you want to have a different version for mobile, then you have to add and verify both, mobile and desktop versions. Mobile-first indexing was being used for quite a long time. It is great to see how the web has evolved from the traditional desktop to the mobile for digital marketing.

Webmasters have helped in crawling & indexing to match how users interact with the web. We appreciate all the hard work that Google put in all these years to ensure a smooth transition to mobile-friendly interactions.

Color Psychology in Web Design: Choose the Best Color Scheme for Your Website

Did you know that more than 85% of the product purchase decisions are based on color? Color psychology plays a pivotal role in web design. It might sound a bit weird, but the fact is, as human beings, we are visually driven towards colors. Visual stimuli work as a guide in everything we do.

This is exactly why color schemes are important to consider in web development and design. Consider the biggest brands in the world. Every single one of them has distinct color schemes that associate with their brand identity, for instance, McDonald’s, it’s red and yellow.

How to choose the best color schemes for a website?

Here are some quick tips on choosing the right colors for your website.

1. You need to understand how color affects our emotions. Familiarize yourself with how color affects us. Yes, the impact of color indeed varies on a certain geographical location. The colors that appeal to the American Shoppers may not appeal to the Indian shoppers in the same way.

Here is a pictorial breakdown of how different CTA buttons affect shoppers in North America.

2. Next is to consider the overall demographic. Who is your target audience? What kind of emotions are you trying to generate? Research on the personality and emotions of your target audience. Then choose the right color that will be the primary color or base color during web design.

For instance, if you are an organic food development company, the best option is to keep green as the primary color. Since green is associated with health and nature.

3. You can consider gender as well. This may not work for all companies, but if you are an e-commerce organization, try to know what are men’s and women’s favorite color. Also, what colors do both the genders don’t like?

As you see, men like blue, green and black to some extent and they dislike purple and brown. Women like purple and blue and dislike orange and purple.

4. Decide on how many colors you are going to use. If you have a primary color in mind during web design and web development. Now, figure out how many other colors you want to use. You won’t find a one-size-fits-all formula, but you can try the 60-30-10 rule.

It is simple. 60% of the dominant color, 30% of the secondary color, and 10% of the accent color. Ideally, you should use three colors, but that doesn’t mean you cannot try for more. Try not to use more than four though.

5. Choose a contrasting set of colors. Determine the set of colors that you want to use. Preferably a bright colored background along with a darker foreground is a good option. It makes things easy on the visitors’ eyes and creates an aesthetic appeal.

However, some websites easily pull off a darker background as well. Make sure you opt for visually appealing web design.

6. Consider the color wheel. The color wheel can be of immense help. What you can do is choose the “analogous colors” that are almost identical. Or you can also opt for the “complementary colors”. The complementary colors are directly opposite each other.

7. Consider the age group as well. Did you know that the color preference of an individual change with age? Here is how the color preference changes with age.

Why color schemes are important in digital marketing?

When we think about digital marketing and social media marketing, certain things pop up into our heads. Most of us think about statuses, engagement, profile pages, images, and more. If you don’t consider the small details in colors, you are missing out on a significant chance to be truly successful.

Contrasts in colors draw eyes to certain elements and that makes them stand out. Use it to your advantage while publishing content for web and mobile marketing. Make sure that there is consistency in the color of the contents you share.

Know that your brand will be perceived in the way it looks. Thus, it is imperative to have consistency in your brand color. A well-integrated color scheme immediately connects with your target audience. Make sure to share content in your social media profiles with a consistent color scheme.

This is a purposeful way of drawing immediate connection. Branding is a significant aspect of digital marketing and social media marketing. A signature color can increase brand recognition by 80%. For instance, we associate Facebook with blue.

A lot of buyers also believe that the color reveals the true nature of the products and services. Thus, 30% of the world’s top brands use blue in the logo. Blue is associated with credibility and trustworthiness. These are the two factors that most of the customers want.

A lot of companies also use different names with the same color to increase sales. For instance, if you want to sell “green” purses online, the chances of selling more pieces will increases if you call them ‘emerald’. While preparing the products for branding, some of the marketers explore this strategy to generate interest among consumers.

Before we get into the details of the importance of using a vernacular medium, let us share what exactly it is.

What is Vernacular content?

This is a form of content that is created in regional languages targeting the non-English speaking audience. With the increasing number of non-English speaking audience, there is a significant opportunity for aspiring digital marketers that speak vernacular languages.

Simply stated, nowadays, you don’t need to be proficient in English to continue digital marketing and social media marketing. In a country of 1.3 billion, only 125 million people have been speaking English. Thus, digital marketers have a huge market to explore.

Some interesting facts on Vernacular media users

  • Did you know that 70% of the internet users feel that the digital contents on the local language are more reliable than the contents created in English?
  • Rajan Anandan, the VP Operations of Google India and Southeast Asia, says, “English is over. Almost every new user that is coming online – roughly nine out of ten people are not proficient in English. So, it is fair to say that almost all the growth of usage is coming from the non-English users”.
  • The estimated size of the vernacular media market is $53 billion in India.
  • Numerous applications like ShareChat, DailyHunt, Khabri, TikTok, and Vokal have become extremely popular through vernacular internet marketing.
  • An amount of $708 million was raised by the vernacular startups between the years 2014 to 2019.

Why is vernacular content important in social media marketing?

With the exponential increase in the creation and distribution of regional language contents, there has been an explosion in content consumption. This is what offers a major opportunity for the digital marketing companies of India to target the regional language users.

Here are 7 things that make vernacular media a game-changer for web & mobile marketing.

Social Media
Social Media

A multi-lingual web platform: Vernacular media marketing strategy helps in connecting with a broad spectrum of people. With a local platform, it becomes easier to generate higher traction and reach out to a large number of audiences. This is vital for any digital media marketing organization.

Major content creating platforms in India are targeting audiences through numerous Indian languages that include Tamil, Bengali, Telegu, Punjabi, Kannada, and more. With regional languages, people feel more connected to the brand.

Capturing regional nuances: As we already mentioned that 70% of the Indians feel more connected towards the local digital content than English content. Thus, this is the opportunity for the brands to start thinking in regional terms so that they can get better reactions from their target audience.

It is time for the brands to start thinking in regional terms of content so that they can speak to their audiences keeping in mind the right regional nuances. Exploring beyond the regional barriers in different formats (audio and video) will help the brands in targeting audiences of a different spectrum.

Regional videos: This is ideally going to be the future of digital content marketing strategy. 64% of the customers purchase a product by checking out a video of it online. When customers remember a video, they will also remember the brand.

Thanks to social media, the consumers share the videos that they like and it helps in expanding the brand name. For better content marketing, it is imperative for the brands to make sure that they are in sync with the objective of their marketing strategy in a language that the consumer prefers.

Combining voice & vernacular: By the end of the year 2020, more than 30% of the web-browsing will happen without any screen. How? With “voice-first interactions”! With the inclusion of the semi-literate sections of the society in the content revolution, the audio content will be the next step online searches.

Google voice searches are already becoming popular, not only in India but also in other parts of the non-English speaking countries of the globe. Thus, the brands need to be discoverable through voice searches so that they can stay visible on digital platforms.

Customizing communications: This is a major aspect of a content marketing strategy. For creating communication or products that the consumers find valuable, it is important for the brands to know who they are speaking with. Knowing the interests and concerns of your target audience will help in creating and delivering consumer-driven products.

Diversity is the core of India as it offers a new insight at every 100 km. it is important to capture these insights and leverage them in a relevant content marketing strategy to communicate better with the regional language users.

Tailored Communications

Two-way communication: With an effective digital marketing and social media marketing strategy, the brands not only speak with their target audience but also listen to them. To have a meaningful conversation, the brands have to start conversing with users in their regional languages, especially in the social media pages.

The moment a marketer starts to speak the language of their audience, half the game is won. Not only you gain the trust of your audience, but they feel that you/your brand are something that they can connect with. Thus, it is important to use vernacular content in social media marketing promotions.

Not just translations but transcreations: The mere usage of Google translation will not help you in interacting with your non-English audience. In order to build a mutual understanding and rapport, the content marketing strategy and campaigns should appeal to them.

Transcreation is the process of adapting the mindset and thoughts of the entity that you communicate with. The brands need to come up with effective strategies that will help them in adapting the mindset of their target audience.

Vernacular content is such a segment that has remained untapped till date. There has been no significant use of vernacular blog management services until now. With the popularity of regional content, it is now the opportunity of multiple business organizations to capitalize on vernacular media marketing. Regional contents are going to propel the internet growth of India by 24%. This is just the right time for a digital revolution to make the most of this opportunity and reap its benefits.

Facebook plans to launch ads with WhatsApp through targeted advertising

Facebook has come up with yet another new announcement. A few days ago we learned that the social media giant launched updates on its subsidiary platforms like Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. The latest announcement is Facebook is planning to launch with WhatsApp by target advertising.

In simple terms, WhatsApp will be serving ads in the future. This new development has come up when there were speculations going on about Facebook still not leveraging WhatsApp to put up ads. WhatsApp has got more than 150 crore global users.

What was the initial announcement of Facebook?

Facebook has already announced that it will be using WhatsApp for showing ads on the platform. The ads will be displayed in WhatsApp statuses, just like Instagram and Facebook stories to promote paid content.

This was the plan during the initial announcement. However, Facebook didn’t completely carry on with the announcements on WhatsApp. It was suspended on the grounds to “avoid antagonizing regulators”.

Facebook

In 2016, WhatsApp had announced a change in the privacy policy where some user data will be shared with the parent company Facebook for target advertising. By coordinating more with Facebook, WhatsApp wanted to track the basic metrics on user behaviour for better ad-targeting.

The idea was to offer much more relevant ads. For instance, if you see an ad from a company that you already work with, it enriches the user experience for that particular company. The data to be shared includes the phone number and the last time they used WhatsApp.

Why Choose WhatsApp now?

Initially, WhatsApp was not such a popular platform that can be used for multiple purposes. With its gradual updates like WhatsApp status, broadcasts improved video, and voice calls, it has become a versatile platform to be used for digital marketing, social media marketing, and e-commerce.

The primary reason to choose WhatsApp is the number of users it has. As we already mentioned, WhatsApp has got more than 150 crore users. Thus, it can be leveraged as a platform for social media marketing. WhatsApp for business is also available to communicate with customers.

Another reason for choosing the WhatsApp status feature for target ads is, in recent times, the status feature is being used by a huge number of people. Not only you can share any content, but you can post links, images, info-graphics, and more.

WhatsApp

Also, since the status feature can be seen by the people in one’s contact, thus, it is a much better platform for sharing customized and tailored ads according to specific user behaviour. It makes it an ideal feature to be used for digital marketing and target ads.

What is target advertising? A brief explanation in layman’s terms

There is no doubt that advertisement is everywhere, whether it is online or offline. People have gotten used to seeing and ignoring it. Thus, to win back the attention of their target audience, the advertisers at present opt for ways to monitor consumer behaviour and their interests.

It might sound strange, but it is true. Using the information on consumer behaviour and interests to sell things is a practice known as target advertising. It is a form of online advertising focusing on the specific preferences of a consumer. Here is how it works.

For instance, you visit Amazon to check a new book. To keep a track of your visit, Amazon will create a “cookie” file on your computer. Later, automated advertisements will read the cookie and generate ads for the item related to your visit to Amazon.

Apart from the cookies, the advertisers can also learn about your interests and preferences in other ways like checking the search engine history and personal information on social media. A lot of people might see this as a violation of privacy.

It is important to remember that all the search queries, social media updates, interests, and preferences that you present on the internet, can be tracked. If it can be tracked, it might come back to you in the form of a targeted ad. There is nothing to worry about it.

What are the speculated features of WhatsApp target ads?

The social media giant will monetize the messaging application by hosting ads on the status message feature. The primary mode of monetization is going to be putting up ads in the WhatsApp statuses. The feature is going to benefit business owners who can reach out to potential customers.

The targeted ads will be supported on the messaging platform with Facebook’s advertising system. The Facebook profile of the user will be matched with the WhatsApp profiles using the phone numbers. Then it will determine which ads will be shown on the messaging platform.

speculated features of WhatsApp target ads

This is how Facebook is going to use target ads. Even though the news has been confirmed, the company has also that the implementation of this decision will take quite some time. This feature will come into action once the social media giant completes the unification of the messaging platforms.

What are the possible adverse effects?

The plan to leverage the WhatsApp user base on Facebook for target advertising might raise issues for the social media mogul. The reason is that Facebook has already faced complaints about various anti-trust issues and information leakage. It is under scrutiny due to allegations of the possible misuse of personal information.

Thus, if this feature is not implemented satisfactorily, it could backfire. The reason is WhatsApp will share user-data with Facebook that includes the phone number and the last seen of the user. Any hint of a breach in personal information can backfire and might lead to the mass deletion of Facebook accounts.

Those who won’t be allowed to join the two social media accounts together by verification will become frustrated at one point. It might also lead to the deletion of Facebook accounts. Thus, it is imperative for social media mogul to take careful measures for avoiding negative impacts.

It is not clear yet whether Facebook will allow in selling ads directly on WhatsApp. During the annual Facebook Marketing Summit in the Netherlands last year, Facebook mentioned that WhatsApp statuses are going to be a solution for monetizing the platform with ads.

It will be similar to how ads are presented through Instagram stories. The ads in statuses will be a long-term opportunity for WhatsApp. At present, it can be said that WhatsApp statuses will be used to serve ads, whether it will be directly or indirectly, this we have to wait and watch.
